OGDA Runs on People like Brian Looney

OGDA Runs on People like Brian Looney...

(And Maybe You?)

Let's be honest.

An association like the OGDA isn’t just a name or a logo on a website. It’s a community. And that community doesn’t just happen—it’s actively built and maintained by people who show up and put in the work, often for no reason other than they want to see everyone succeed.

Today, we want to put a spotlight on one of those people: Brian Looney.

If you’re one of the many tabletop designers in our community, you probably already know Brian. He’s been the consistent, driving force behind our tabletop playtest sessions, stepping up to host them and create a vital, reliable space for designers to get their games in front of other humans. That’s a huge deal.

Getting real, face-to-face feedback is how good games become great, and Brian has made that possible.

On top of that, he’s been a regular, supportive presence at our other events, helping things run smoothly. It’s this kind of quiet, consistent effort that forms the backbone of our entire association.

So, from the whole OGDA team and the community: Thank you, Brian. Your work is seen, appreciated, and makes a massive difference.

Now, About That (And You)...

Brian is a perfect example of what makes our community thrive. As we continue to grow, we want to create a more formal way for passionate members like him to get involved, contribute their skills, and help us do even more.

Which brings us to some exciting news: We are officially launching a new volunteer program, and we’re giving our volunteers a title that fits: OGDA Ambassadors.

What is an OGDA Ambassador?
It’s a new title for the community members who want to take a more active role. Our Ambassadors will be the friendly, helpful faces of the OGDA. The role is simple but powerful:

  • Help host our weekly events, workshops, and meetups.
  • Be a welcoming presence and help new members get connected.
  • Represent the OGDA at community events.

Basically, you’d be the representative for our community.

We will be opening up applications for the OGDA Ambassador program very soon. If you’ve been looking for a way to get more involved, support your fellow developers, and help shape the future of game development in the Okanagan, this is your chance.
Stay tuned for the official application link.

And in the meantime, if you see Brian Looney, tell him thanks. He’s earned it.
